New easyJet Bristol-Sal route opens Cape Verde to more UK holidaymakers
A new direct easyJet route from Bristol to Sal is giving holidaymakers across the Southwest of England another way to discover Cape Verde. For The Resort Group Plc, which has developed a collection of beachfront hotels on Sal, the connection also brings a new opportunity to welcome even more guests to The Lagoon Resorts.
The Bristol service launched on 1 May 2026, with flights scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It is easyJet’s third UK route to Sal, joining services from London Gatwick and Manchester. The airline announced the connection as part of a wider expansion of its summer network and offers both flights and easyJet holidays packages on the route.
For travellers in Bristol and the surrounding region, a direct flight makes Sal easier to consider for a beach holiday. For the island’s hospitality sector, it widens the area of the UK from which visitors can reach its hotels without a connection. The Lagoon Resorts, The Resort Group Plc’s collection of hotels on Sal, is well placed to benefit from that broader access, although the effect on bookings will become clear over time.
Rob Jarrett, Honorary Chairman of The Resort Group Plc, said:
“Every new direct route makes Cape Verde more accessible to people who may never have considered it before. The Bristol connection is particularly welcome because it introduces Sal to another major part of the UK. We have invested in the island over many years, and we look forward to seeing more visitors discover both its natural beauty and the warmth of its people.”
The Resort Group Plc’s Sal portfolio gives those visitors a choice of holidays. Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort and Meliá Dunas Beach Resort & Spa welcome families and groups, while Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa and Meliá Laguna Beach Resort & Spa cater to adults seeking a quieter stay. Sol Dunas – Family Fun Resort adds another option for families. Together, these properties form The Lagoon Resorts’ presence on the island.
That range matters when a new air route brings in travellers with different plans. Some will want a week beside the pool or on the beach; others may use their stay to explore Santa Maria, try water sports or discover more of Sal’s food and culture. A direct flight gives each of them a simpler starting point for planning the trip.
Lisa Kellett Chief of Staff for The Resort Group Plc, said:
“The Bristol route creates an exciting opportunity for The Lagoon Resorts. Our teams welcome guests with a wide range of interests, from families looking for time together to couples planning a relaxing break. We will be watching how demand develops and working to ensure that visitors arriving through this new connection receive the experience they expect from their first day on Sal.”
The route also has significance beyond the resorts. More convenient access can encourage visitors to spend time in Santa Maria and use local services during their stay. The Resort Group Plc sees the new connection as an opportunity to support that wider visitor economy as well as its own hotels.
Sal is already familiar to many British holidaymakers, but the Bristol flight gives The Resort Group Plc a reason to introduce the destination to people who previously faced a less convenient journey. It also complements the existing easyJet links from Gatwick and Manchester, giving prospective guests a choice of three UK departure points. Flight schedules and package availability should be checked when booking.
For The Lagoon Resorts, the benefit of a new route is straightforward: more people can now travel directly to the island and consider its hotels for their next holiday. As the Bristol service settles into its schedule, The Resort Group Plc will be ready to welcome those visitors across its Sal resorts-and to help them discover the island beyond their hotel.
