White Sands Hotel & Spa marks the next chapter of The Resort Group PLC’s Cape Verde plans
The planned Boa Vista resort will bring suites, villas and a choice of family and adults-only spaces to Santa Monica Beach.

The Resort Group PLC is progressing its plans for White Sands Hotel & Spa on Boa Vista’s Santa Monica Beach. The development is planned as the Group’s first resort on the island and forms part of its wider expansion across Cape Verde.
White Sands is designed to comprise 835 suites and villas, including duplex and penthouse suites and private villas. Its plans bring together six restaurants, a range of bars, Gabi Club®, a YHI Spa®, fitness and water sports facilities, and six swimming pools with swim-up bars and poolside dining.
The resort is planned with separate family and adults-only areas. Families would have access to a kids club, playground, baby pools, tennis courts and beach ball courts, while an exclusive hotel area is designed to offer additional luxury and personalised service.
“White Sands gives us the opportunity to create distinct experiences within one resort,” said Lisa Kellett, Chief of Staff at The Resort Group PLC. “A family holiday and an adults-only escape call for different kinds of service. Our focus is on how the spaces, facilities and teams will work together so that every guest feels well looked after.”
The White Sands groundbreaking ceremony took place on 19 December 2015. Following an extended interruption to the project largely due to the pandemic, construction has now resumed.
This is part of a broader Cape Verde construction pipeline by The Resort Group Plc of approximately 6,500 rooms and said it had an active construction presence on Santiago.
White Sands is the first of six planned developments on Boa Vista. The Group’s 2026 programme also extends beyond Boa Vista to meet demand for accommodation across Cape Verde.
“White Sands remains an important part of our long-term commitment to Boa Vista,” said Rob Jarrett, Honorary Chairman of The Resort Group PLC. “Our ambition is to complete a resort that makes the most of its setting on Santa Monica Beach while contributing to Cape Verde’s wider tourism offering. The work ahead is about delivering that ambition, project by project.”
The Resort Group PLC says it will share further updates as construction progresses. The facilities described above form part of the planned resort and are not yet available for guests.
